The 3rd Annual U.S.M. Knap-In
Update 04/20/2008
With less than a week remaining before our big day, it's getting pretty busy! We are working hard to tie up the loose ends and make sure everything runs well. There are quite a few people, both within and outside of the University, who have contributed their time and resources to this event already. We thank you for all that you have done to make this memorable. We encourage everyone to visit this site after the Knap-In as well to find photos and see our page of thanks and acknowledgements. Please feel free to drop us a line with questions and suggestions after the event. Thank you! See you on Saturday!
A Message from GASA President 03/22/2008
I am so excited about this event! I have been calling and emailing practically non-stop making arrangements and extending invitations. I know it will be a huge success because we have such an enthusiastic group of students involved this year.
I am glad that as students, we are able to promote the University and our department with community involvement projects on this scale. I think it is important for students of all ages to be exposed to what U.S.M. has to offer and our Knap-In is a fun way to show people what we are capable of accomplishing. Apart from academics, this event allows our majors to network and meet professionals in our fields; an important part of life after education. I believe that one of the truest tests of knowledge is the ability to teach another and our Knap-In gives us an opportunity to show off what we have learned.
The last weekend in April doesn't end at 4:00 on Saturday. The following day, Sunday April 27th, the U.S.M. Geography-Anthropology Department is hosting the joint meeting of the New Hampshire and Maine Archaeological Societies, to be held in Room 10 in Bailey Hall. This meeting will integrate members through presentations by speakers from both states. The NH/ME meeting is a further opportunity for our majors to interact with professionals, make important connections, and simply experience what it means to be a part of the archaeological community.
Thank you for showing interest in our event. We are expecting more people than ever to attend the Knap-In this year and we appreciate every one. Please contact us with any questions or concerns at help@usmknapin.com. Can't wait 'til April!

"A man rising in the world is not concerned with history; he is too busy making it. But a citizen with a fixed place in the community wants to acquire a glorious past just as he acquires antique furniture. By that past he is reassured of his present importance; in it he finds strength to face the dangers that lie in front of him." ~ Malcolm Cowley
